Text editing bug

If you create a text with CTRL+T on the timeline and write a sentence with several words. Then you can select one of the words or letters with the mouse cursor and change the colour of the word or the font or the size. But the other words do not change. But now the bug is that you can only change the property of a single word once (!). If you close the text editing and then open the sentence again with a double-click, you can no longer change the colour/size/etc. of individual words. Then the whole sentence always changes.
Only a restart of premiere helps.

Thank you for reporting this @Robert27601211i5p8. We have created an internal bug for this and it is being reviewed by development. In the meantime, there are a couple of things I was able to do to work around the problem:
(1) Don't de-select the whole graphic before changing the Source text for the second time.
(2) Don't use the Source Text > Font controls in the Effect Controls Panel (ECP) use the ones in the Essential Graphics Panel (EGP). Use the EGP and you will get out of that state without an app restart.

Hi Stan, thx for your answer.

"The dash simply means that there are multiple values for what is selected. If you click on the dash, you can change what is now selected."

And that's what I'm talking about 🙂
This is the bug. No Dash is allowed to appear. My goal is, for example, to make the individual letters in a sentence in different sizes or in different colours.
You could do that in every version of Premiere. But now the problem is that you can only change the individual letters once (!).
1. you change one letter in a sentence. It works.
2. then you leave the control panel and continue working in the timeline, for example.
3. you go back to the control panel and want to change another letter in the same sentence and the dash appears - which was not there before. And if you then select only one letter, click on the dash and enter a number, the whole sentence changes! (But I only want to change one letter). And this dash will now always be there! Only after restarting Adobe Premiere can you change individual letters in a sentence again. We have this problem on 3 different computers. And this problem/bug is new.

Double-click on the text in the EGP, that will select all in one go.

Thanks for the screenshots.

I was actually looking for the Essential Graphics Panel, not Effects Controls, but both may be useful.

The dash simply means that there are multiple values for what is selected. If you click on the dash, you can change what is now selected.

There is something odd in the second screen shot. The selection highlight is not the same size. As if you made the end of the word smaller - then when you select the word, it is not all the same height. That would make the font size now selected a dash and nothing on the selection line. But I just click on the line and it allows changing the size of the font for the part selected.

If it turns out that this is not working correctly for you, I would try resetting the Workspace you are using and then resetting Preferences.

After the first opening of the programme and text editing. You can change individual text modules

After changing something in the text, go back to the timeline once and close the text editing. If you then open the text editing again, you can no longer change individual elements. Then everything changes together. You can also see that the font size and colour are indicated by a line.

I'm not seeing this; working as expected on Win 10 pr 23.5.0.

A screenshot might help. Show the Program Monitor, Timeline, and Essential Graphics Panel.
