Question

text field in the program monitor

I am unable to work normally in the text field in the program monitor in Premiere Pro. When I press "space," it plays the video instead of adding a space in the text, and when I try to paste text using "Cmd+V," it does not work. Typing letters works fine. I have already tried uninstalling Adobe completely, reinstalling Premiere Pro 23.0, and deleting preferences, but the issue persists.

Hello there, hello-there! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Did you get this sorted? If not, here's what I see.

The only way for me to create what you describe is to select the text box, but not actually get into editing mode. For example, make sure you have nothing selected in the timeline and click on the Selection tool (arrow). Click once on a text box in the Program Monitor. It shows the bounding box, but does not enter editing mode and shows no insertion point where text will be added. If I press space, the timeline plays. Now pick the Text tool. (The bounding box changes from blue to red.) Click once in the text bounding box that is selected. You get an insertion point. If I press space, it enters a space.

I get the same pattern if I have copied something and use Ctrl+V. If I have the insertion point, it pastes. If not, nothing happens.
