the importer reported a generic error.

What I'm tring to import is an audio file .mkv.

 

I searched this error in the internet and they all say to move the file to another place or change the format by changing the format (Yes, I did change the format, not the name) But I still have the same problem.

 

So I think, maybe if I convert it to another type with Adobe Media Encoder 2023 v23.6 it would work. But when I try to import it says "the source compression type is not supported".

 

So I tried to open Premiere Pro Run as administrator. But doing this won't allow me to import ANYTHING.

 

The files are not in a pendrive or something you can remove. They are on the desktop.

 

I don't know how to fix this.

MKV is not supported, hence the error message.

Convert to wave with Handbrake or Shutter Encoder.

MKV was briefly in one of the beta's some time ago. But its gone now.

There was limited, undocumented support for mkv as of PR 2018.1.1. The was removed as of PR 2019.1.3. It never worked correctly; I had problems in particular with audio.

 

MKV is a container, and can contain many different formats. It is not a simple addition to fully suppport.

I do remember that the older versions of Premiere did accept this type of formats. What happend?
