Thank you for reading this long winded issue.

I have been using Premier for a year making clips of musicains for their publicity. All has worked perfectly until I added a sound file from a studio into my mix. After that I was able to work and export serveral versions of my latest project and thougth I was done. Today the prproj will not open. The Auto Save will not open and my backups made after closing the project yesterday will not open.

I think I made a big mistake believing that if Premire accepted and let me work with a file it was OK. Below are the ffprobe51 data for each stream in the project. I gather from other posts that I should be converting the video and audio to a common format before starting on a project.

1. Is that the preferred process?

2. Or any thoughts?

Converting will take some time but it is where I am going.  My hesitation is that conversions in the past have caused slight timing issues and sometimes introduced audio and visual issues.

My project streams data are below. If anyone can spot a specific issue I would appreciate the heads up.

Remember I have made hundreds if clips with the cameras and H1N letting Primiere handle the formats.

Video from two cameras Nikon D800E and Nikon Z72
Audio from cameras , H1N digitizer wav, and sound studio (place not software) mp3

------------------------ these are ffprobe51 outputs
H1N WAV: Stream #0:0: Audio: pcm_s24le ([1][0][0][0] / 0x0001), 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s32 (24 bit), 2304 kb/s

Studio MP3: Stream #0:0: Audio: mp3, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 320 kb/s

D800E MOV: Stream #0:0[0x1](eng): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuvj420p(pc, smpte170m/bt709/bt470m, progressive),
1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 20204 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 30k tbn

Stream #0:1[0x2](eng): Audio: pcm_s16le (sowt / 0x74776F73), 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 1536 kb/s

Z72 MP4: Stream #0:0[0x1](und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuvj420p(pc, bt709, progressive),
3840x2160, 120336 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 30k tbn
Stream #0:1[0x2](eng): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 256 kb/s

I have examined both MediaInfo and ffprobe files but not spotted a smoking gun.

Happy Trails

For anyone coming here with same problem this is my update.

I rebuilt my project and made many saves along the way  Curiosly, I never saw the file problem again after making the failed project. All the intermediate versions open perfectly. That would indicate that something in my process or order of editing caused a corruption or the file failed to write to the disk due to a file write error that was not detected by the error checking for the disk. My suggestion is to save a version every 15-30 min and don't care about the number of files. And exit Premiere every hour or so to get a fresh start.
