Question

The project saves aren't working

The project save feature isn't working. I save the project, but then Premiere freezes, and the last 5 minutes of my work aren't saved. That's not good. I save every 30 seconds, but I don't see those saves.I have to redo the editing.

Do you mean File > Save or Auto Save?

Is this any project or a specific project?

I’ve seen other posts by you, so I assume that there is plenty of free hard drive space and sufficient RAM.
Have you tried saving to a different drive?
Have you tried creating a new project and importing the old one into it?

This has happened a few times before, and the project files and the project itself were on different drives. We can definitely rule out the drives as a possible cause. I don't understand—where is the data being saved, then?

    Hey Paul,

If Premiere freezes while saving and your recent changes aren't being written to the project file, that's definitely something we'd like to investigate.

    Could you let us know:

    • Your exact Premiere version

    • Windows or macOS and the OS version

    • Where the project file is stored (internal drive, external drive, network/cloud storage, etc.)

    • Whether this happens with every project or only this one

Also, please check the Premiere Auto-Save folder inside your project folder. Premiere normally creates timestamped backup versions there, which may help recover some of the missing work. https://adobe.ly/4yO4ptW

Please don't reset preferences or delete any project/Auto-Save files while we're trying to determine what's happening.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I set it to auto-save every 5 minutes, but I always save manually every minute. For some reason, though, my project wasn't saved, and I couldn't recover it. I know about backups, but in this particular case, the backup didn't have time to be created. I'm running Windows 11 with the latest updates and Premiere 26.5.2, build 5.
