I've been trying to use accelerated effects on my videos but I am getting the "This effect requires GPU acceleration" error even after selecting Mercury Playback Engine(CUDA) in the project settings. I have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M installed on my notebook.

Make sure to update the drivers for your graphics card: Nvida Driver 445.87

If that doesn´t do the trick you do probably don´t have enough VRAM on that old card. 4K requires more VRAM on the graphics card than 1080.

Oh, so if I bump down the quality of my video, would it work?

I have 3GB VRAM, drivers updated
