This project was saved from a previous version of Adobe Premiere Pro and must be converted. (Empty project)

I am trying to modify a project done last summer on CC 2015 (I believe). My Mac is now running CC 2017. I get the message:

"This project was saved from a previous version of Adobe Premiere Pro and must be converted."

I allow it to convert. When PP opens the new file it is empty.

In another thread I found someone suggested reopening the sequence from the project pane. However, when I go to my project pane, I see no bins and it says 0 items.

Am I missing something obvious or is there more to this?
