time mapping fx greyed out

Hello, can anyone tell me why the FX of time mapping is greyed out? is this normal? or does it suggest that its not working properly? im struggling to make sense of the effect and wondered if this is why it difficult to use.

Yes that is correct: the way it is designed.

The fx icon is for toggling the effect on or off. Time Remapping is always on.

Best is to use it on the timeline.
