Timeline disappears when I click on Effects

So this problem has been baffling me for a few days. I've used Adobe Premiere Pro for years, and it's never done this. But I guess I clicked on the wrong thing. The different panels have been all out of whack recently, I accidentally moved a few around. Now, when I click on effects now, to add something like a video transition, the timeline dissapears, making it impossible for me to drag the feature. I have to click on assembly to get it back, but then the effects options close. So yeah, that's maddening. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I actually had to go to Geeksquad. There is a little icon inside the icon for the video in assembly that he clicked, I think he selected "show hidden," and it was fixed. Yeah, I'm clearly not very tech saavy. But thanks anyway!

    Try resetting the preferences:

FAQ: How to reset preferences in Premiere Pro?

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:

    Reset a workspace

Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.

    1. Do one of the following:
      • Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
      • Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

    from here:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.
