Question

Timeline display issue (and question)

The question below from my last post was never addressed and the thread subsequently closed as "solved" but it was not solved. So here is my question again:

Is it possible to see only video tracks below the playback monitoring screen (whatever it is officially called) or see only audio tracks (with a quick keyboard shortcut). I know I can click drag to move the division line between audio and video up and down to hide audio or video but it is time consuming  and doesn't always give me the results I am looking for. So is there a shorcut to "display audio only" or  "display video only" below the monitoring panel.

I did find a shortcut to diplay timeline only but then I lose the monitoring panel (whatever it is officially called) and no longer can see/watch what I am doing (watch the video to see my edit changes as I implement them).

If you undock Program Monitor, then you can maximize the Timeline with the tilde key (`) without hiding this panel.

We can minimize all the Video Tracks to favor working with the Audio Tracks and vice versa, but we cannot prevent the Video Tracks or Audio Tracks from being seen.  I'm avoiding saying "hide" or "show" because those terms refer to the contents of the Video Tracks and not the Tracks themselves.

It would be great to have an option like After Effects' Shy Layers (it could be called, "Shy Tracks") in Premiere Pro where we can set a Track switch for Tracks being visible or not in the Sequence panel and then toggle those on and off with a Sequence switch.

is there a keyboard shortcut to minimize all video tracks (but not the audio track) and one for minimizing all audio tracks (but not the video ones) ?

You can create track height presets in the timeline menus.
