Timeline lag

Despite having 64GB RAM, an RTX 1070, and Ryzen 7 5800X, and using ProRes/DNxHR proxies for 1080p footage. I am making a gamedev video 10min long using footage of 80 hours development.
I experience 4-10 second playback and pause/unpause delays (sometimes I have to wait up to 30sec for premier to pause or unpause), and system resource monitors show minimal CPU, GPU, and RAM usage during these freezes.
I have tried clearing cache, updating drivers (Studio drivers), and ensuring GPU acceleration is enabled, yet live preview remains unresponsive.

Hi @Lucas386314716b8s - Have you tried using H264 Proxies instead.  I believe you will have better performance with your system and GPU.

@jamieclarke I have been working with the new H264 Proxies for a few hours now; it is a lot smoother! Thank you! 😄
I still experience a 1-4-second lag when jumping from an entirely different clip to another. I assume this is more normal?
Btw could I also ask if you have some more helpful links or tips for improving performance?

Hi @Lucas386314716b8s - I'm glad the proxies are working much better.  Can you check your sequence settings and make sure your video previews are set to Quicktime: H264.  Let us know if that helps

@jamieclarke
If I take a single long media clip into an empty project it only freezes for the first time for about 5 seconds. After that I can freely navigate pause or unpause without any delay or proxies.

Hi @Lucas386314716b8s - Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot that helps narrow things down a bit. Could you try deleting sections of media from your sequence where you’re experiencing pauses, to help identify which clip might be causing the delays?

Thank you I will try it out, I will let my computer do that during the night. I will go to bed and reply when I get back tomorrow morning 😄

Hello @jamieclarke Thanks for the fast reply 🙂

I am using Adobe Premier Pro Version 25.2.3 (Build 4)

Driver Info:
From NVIDIA App:

From Device Manager:

I am not using third-party plugins or panels. I am not aware of installing any at least.
I have tried setting Audio hardware to "no input", but has not helped...

Hi @Lucas386314716b8s -
Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.

Which version of Premiere Pro are you using?

Can you also tell us the exact GPU driver you are using?

Are you using any third party plugins or panels?

Can you check your audio hardware settings and make sure Default Input is set to "No Input"

Sorry for the frustration.
