Question

Timeline Sequence Gone After Exporting

This might be a really stupid question, but I'm still getting used to Premiere after being out of video production for a while...

I created a new project, imported all the clips I shot (I used two cameras), assembled and edited all the clips from my main camera, then assembled all the B-roll shots on a different track so I could sync them. The color and lighting were different on the two cameras, so I cut all the clips from my main camera and pasted them into a new timeline/sequence so I could export them as a single file then import that file to a new sequence so I could color correct the entire sequence at once. Now I need to make some changes in that timeline but it seems to be gone. I can use the imported file but then I'll need to cut it up again...I'd rather go back to the first timeline and make the edits there then re-export it to fix the color.

If I try to reopen the sequence, all I get is the single file timeline. Does this make sense?

Can anyone tell me what might be happening or how I can get that original sequence back? I'm using Premiere Pro 12.1.2 Build 69 on a 2017 5k retina 27" iMac with 32GBs RAM.

Thank you,

Lloyd

Here is the way to open a sequence after you've exported the video. Go to File > Open Project and go to your working folder, for example example \Adobe\Premiere Pro\25.0\Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save.
In that Auto-Save folder, you will find previously auto saved file(s) with extension .prpro. These are files that were auto saved before you exported the video. Open that file and it will populate your previous sequence on your timeline

That's not opening a sequence, that's nesting it.

Premiere Pro is complex software.  Don't skip reading the manual.

    Jim_Simon,

I'm double-clicking the sequence from the Project panel just like the manual says but it's opening the exported QT file. I guess it's not a huge deal.

    Thanks,
