Question

Titles from after effects now have black backgrounds in Premiere Pro

I have made one call out title sequence in after effects that I rendered out to use in premiere pro. I added it to the project and it worked fine withe a transparent background to lay over my video. Later on in the video I wanted to add a different title and it would not come up with a transparent background. I tried several different methods of render options and still no luck. The annoying thing is I had used this same title before in a previous project. So now I have given up and decided to watch my project from the beginning and I find out the previous title I had done has now reverted a black background as well.

Weird crap like this always happens to me with Adobe programs. I take 1 step forward and then something goes wrong and I spend 6 hours of my day trying to get back on track.

What format was used for the export?

I tried AVI and QuickTime. I also exported with RGB+ Alpha and tried it with just RGB. None of those worked.

I did find a solution through a different discussion though. In the effects tab I searched for the Lima Key effect and applied it to both my clips. One was Corrected immediately while the second clip still came out with a black background, but adjusting to la value and the other setting (can’t remember the name of it) I was able to adjust the black background out.

Happy to have ave found a solution, but frustrated to not understand the solution exactly. Why did it happen in the first place? What the hell is a Luma key? Why didn’t previous clips with the same method of export experience the same issue? Sometime I feel like learning adobe programs is like learning another language on another planet.
