Transcribing and text editing merged clips

I am working with merged clips for a dozen or so interviews.

I'd love to be able to take these clips and text based edit with them to create my rough cut.

Whenever I edit the text in transcribe window it does nothing to the clip on the sequence.

Any help is appreciated!

jack,

Thanks for that update. You are finding some of the subtleties of text-based editing.

Open the transcribed clip in the Source Monitor. Then switch to the Text panel->Transcript tab. You'll be able to edit the speaker names for that clip.

At one point, some users reported they could not transcribe merged clips. I think it depends on the audio channels unless you are transcribing them in a sequence and then nesting.

Just curious about your workflow.

I was able to figure out that I had not had the "Automatically select in and out" feature selected in the transcript window (looks like two brackets).

That seems to have solved the problem of not being able to edit via text.

I am still experiencing an error trying to edit the speaker name. It gives me a notice to make changes in the "source transcript". Not sure where I can go to edit the speaker names.

A screenshot would be helpful: Transcript tab, timeline, program monitor.

What is the source of the transcript?
