Transcribing In To Out and Replacing only a section of captions 23.6.0
Re-transcribing only a section of captions has been giving me trouble.
I go to the transcript panel, 3 dots, "Re-transcribe sequence" Twirl down Transcription Preferences. Check the "Transcribe in point to out point only" checkbox.
(Side note...... "In to out" Sometimes works. The "Transcribe" button gets greyed out when "in to out" is checked. As I have been writing this post, it started out working, then didn't work, and now it works again. It is so inconsistent.)
Once I get the section or the whole thing re-transcribed, I fix the errors and make new captions as normal.
It automatically places the new captions on C2 and deactivates all captions on C1 and mutes C1.
I expected this. (I can only have 1 active CEA608 track at a time.)
What is different:
I selectively deleted the outdated captions from C1 and moved the new captions from C2 by dragging and dropping them to C1. It moved them as expected.
When I re-activate C1, it only activates the captions that were originally created on C1, and disables the new captions that were originally created on C2. If I activate C2, the new captions light up (even though they are on C1) and the old captions get de-activated. UGGGGH. Seems as though the captions are targeted to the track they were created on even if they are no longer on that track.
I played around with different ways to do this and long story short....
The answer:
Delete the outdated captions from C1
OPT+ drag the captions from C2 to C1. It duplicates and reassigns the CC clips to their new track.
Sure would be nice to just drag and drop from C2 to C1, with no modifiers like old times.... 1 version ago.
