TRANSCRIBING/TRANSCRIPTION FAILURE

Title:
Transcription fails on all projects after latest Premiere Pro update (worked perfectly before)

Issue:
The transcription (speech-to-text) feature is no longer working at all after updating to the latest version of Premiere Pro.

I have been using Premiere Pro for many years, and the transcription feature has always worked reliably for me in previous versions. I have never had any issues with it until now. It is really wasting my time!

Since updating, transcription fails every single time across all projects.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Premiere Pro

  2. Open any project (existing or new)

  3. Select a sequence with clear audio

  4. Go to the Text panel

  5. Click Transcribe Sequence

Expected Result:
The sequence should transcribe normally, as it has consistently done in previous versions.

Actual Result:
The transcription does not work.

  • It fails to generate a transcript

  • The feature does not behave as expected

  • This happens across all projects

Additional Context:

  • This issue began immediately after updating Premiere Pro to the latest version

  • Transcription worked perfectly prior to the update

  • The problem affects all projects, not just one

  • It also occurs in new, empty projects

I am very familiar with how this feature works, as I have used it extensively in earlier versions. This is not a workflow issue — something has clearly changed or broken in the current version.

At this point, I am unable to use transcription at all, which is a major part of my editing workflow.

Premiere Version:
2026

Operating System:
Windows 11 Version 25H2

GPU Driver:
NIVIDIA GE Force Version 3.28.0.417

Request:

Could someone please advise what has changed in the latest version, and what needs to be done to restore the transcription functionality?

At the moment, it is completely unusable on my system.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sorry, I pasted only the image I captured of the transcription. Here’s the link to the bug report:

I will need to translate the spanish to see how his issue affected him. Not so easy to gravitate to another language to see if your issue relates to theirs, hence my problem posted here in english.. And yes, thanks -. I see the the responses to his in english, but no solution to his yet.

    @Camilla_007,

Also on Win11 25H2. I am now on 26.0.2 with no problem using transcription, and 26.0.1 was also working correctly.

A good test is to right-click one of your clips in the Project Panel and pick Transcribe. What happens? Does it open the “Create transcription for source media” dialogue? When you click Transcribe, does it start and then stop? Does it finish but there is no transcription?

Screenshots would help. If I create a sequence with a clip that does not have a source media transcription, focus on the timeline, and then switch to the Text panel/Transcript tab, I do not see “Transcribe Sequence.” I see “Clip X is untranscribed” with a Transcribe button, and “Transcribe Source clips.” If I click on the 3 dot menu, I see “Create a static transcription.” What are you seeing?

It says it will transcribe and take ‘just a few seconds’. It behaves as if it would work, like the former times when I had no issues. But then it just bluntly stops of its own accord….

    @Camilla_007 @Rach McIntire,

Okay. thanks for the additional informaton. See this bug report that appears similar. The screen-recording there does not appear accessible now, but what it shows is that the transcription starts and then in less than a second or so, the transcription indicator disappears, and it shows the same screen as before opening the transcription dialogue.

Your post may get moved to that thread.
