Question

Transcriptions and captions now leave no gaps

Premiere Pro 23.6.0 (build 65)

Windows 10 64-bit

Transcriptions in Premiere Pro now identify a block of speech as lasting all the way until the next block of speech, including the silence that comes after the actual speech. This problem occurs when creating captions from this transcription too, as you can see in the images.

I'd like the captions only to display while the speaker is active, not holding on screen through the silences. The Captions setting 'Gap between captions (frames)' allows 10 frames maximum, and doesn't seem the appropriate setting for this anyway. 'Pause length' and 'Show pauses' in Transcript options also don't seem to have an effect.

This used to be the norm. Only recently has this been an issue and I can't find the solution online or in program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as manually resizing all captions on a 10-minute film will take quite some time, and I know it used to work the way I'm describing by default.

Many thanks.
