Trim blocked by Video 1 and other tracks

Question

ok i know ive had this issue before but, i was using the simple trim tool "the red one" and i was able to trim and extend over other clips, now i cant and it states "trim blocked" blah blah blah, and i forget how i fixed it last time, i checked the other posts on here saying "you cant trim or extend over other clips" but i have been doing that exact thing for about a week, i have checked my prefrences and they are all correct, please help, i cant live without my simple trim tool, i can provide video and screenshots if needed, i am on version 25.5

You either need the rolling edit tool, it's the red one with the double-arrows on both sides, "N" I think is the defualt shortcut. OR you can simply click and drag the clip and move it over the the clip you want to over-write. If you want all to ripple, then use the track-select forward/backward tool (A, or Shift-A)

And if you want to change the relative in and outpoints of two clips you drag with the red double-arrows.
