"Trim blocked on Video 1"

So the issue seems to be the default behaviour, when I can't move the edge of one clip on top of the next one, unless it's ripple edit tool or holding down Ctrl while trimming. So the question is, is there a way to set it so I can trim or extend the edge of one clip on top of another by default without the need of using ripple edit tool or modifier keys? Like, let's say we have 2 clips going one after another and I want to trim the end of the first one without rippling the following one, but when I want to extend it, it would move the following one further

You cannot do what you want it to do with the Trim Tool (red), you need the Ripple Trim tool (yellow).

Hold down CTRL, the tool will become yellow that will trim the clip

If you don't want to use a modifier, use the shortcuts for the tool (B).

There are shortcuts such as Q and W (and several more) for trimming clips.

Might want to explore them:

So no way. Well, I'll post it to feature request then

You can set the Preferences Trim mode so that you can use multiple modes by mouse location without keyboard work. So if the cursor is over, you get one type, if one side or the other, you get a different mode.

That probably will do what you want.

I don't think you can get past the modifier keys.

I change edit points all the time with mouse only. On the cut, the clips stay the cut can slide left/right.

Close, you get slips and slides. Including rolling rest of sequence.

Eliminates most need of the mouse.
