Trouble Exporting via Media Encoder Queue - Import Sequences Natively?

Hi all,

I was finding that, for some projects, when I export via Media Encoder and Queue the sequence, so I can continue working in Premiere, that I get all sorts of glitches, green lines, and other errors in my output video.  In my case, my footage is 4K camera-native compressed format, and I'm making a 720p output to post to Vimeo.

My system:  Late 2013 Mac Pro, 64 GB RAM, AMD FIreProD700 6144 MB, decently fast external RAID (300-400 MB/sec)

I contacted Adobe Customer support, and the agent suggested I change one Preference in Media Encoder:

Adobe Media Encoder -> Preferences -> General -> Premiere Pro -> Import sequences natively.

That box had been checked by default.  I UNCHECKED it.

This solved my problem completely.

First - I wanted to share this - as this problem caused me much grief and wasted time.

Second - I am now wondering what the value is of "Import sequences natively" option.

    Following up, on Adobe 2023 when I look in the General tab I dont see the option to import sequences natively, where can I find this?

    It's in Media Encoder, not Premiere

    Hi Joew,

    Thanks for posting in Adobe forums. I am sorry for the trouble you faced with the export issue.

    If the setting "Import sequences natively" is unchecked, it allows Adobe Media Encoder to import the Premiere Pro project sequences(.prproj) natively into Media Encoder using Media Encoder importer.

    Hi Vidya,

    Can you describe in more what the difference is between a "native" Media Encoder render of a Premiere file vs the alternative, which I guess is the "headless" version of Premiere running under Media Encoder? Does the native Media Error render logic for Premiere files differ from how Premier itself would render the same files under the headless version of the app?

    Hi Joew,

    I am sorry for the delay. Premiere Pro & Media Encoder have different importers & both program can import project files natively.

    There will be no difference in the export, its just the importing of project file will be different.

    In very few cases, project file may not get imported into media encoder properly & may cause issues.
