Type Tool - Text outside of box/cursor not deleting text

Hey guys,

Premiere cc 2017

macbook pro 2017 512 ssd 16gb ram

Im having an issue with the text tool where the text appears outside of the red text box.  When i jump into the graphic editor, i can select the text, delete all of it but when i try to place the cursor in a specific spot it will look like the cursor is where I placed it, but when i try to type or delete the cursor seems to be a few characters off, typing three of four letters behind where i placed the cursor.  I double checked in the clip editor, souce text panel, the graphics editor but none of the parameters seem to keep the text within the text box or fix the cursor problem.  please help!

Thank you

Ryan

Using cc2019, when copy and paste text into the sequence monitor, the red box appears to the left of my text and off the screen. I cannot select the text in any way, but can change font, etc in the Effects Control panel. When I have my type tool selected and try to highlight text to resize, it creates another text layer in the Effects Control panel. I've restarted project, tried in other projects, reset preferences, restarted cpu, but to no avail. Any ideas?

In the meantime I'll use a photoshop doc, but would love to figure this out.

    Thanks for any input.

Not necessarily a bug. Re-setting preferences is a good first step when Premiere acts unpredictably.

So I reset the preferences, and it worked temporarily.  Today the problem resurfaced - same thing - text is outside of box and cursor is also off from where it should be.  Certain text also won't delete when I try to backspace.  Any other thoughts?

Will try thanks Rob.  Any idea what causes this problem?  Is it just a bug?

You might want to try restore preferences during start up and see if it helps.

To restore default preference settings, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting.
