Unable to drag and drop files from file explorer into premiere pro

When i go to drag and drop any file, mp4, mp3 etc. into my timeline or project assembly it changes my cursor to a cancel symbol making it impossible for me to actually drop a file into my workspace insaide of premiere pro. The problem is pretty simple, one day it worked and one day it didnt. Its really really annoying having to import files by double clicking the open project area and manually find the file...

    If that is not the issue, then Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

    If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

    If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
    Reset a workspace
    Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
    1. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
    • Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

    If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

    If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

    If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

    all right, did everything you said. reset all the cache, preferences, and switched my driver over to the studio one & reset my workspaces, and set the audio hardware to none. I dont know what else to do..?

    Yet the problem persist, i made a small video showing what is happening, should be linked below.

    BTW: You're allowed to slow down when making a demo of things.d

     

    That cursor does not look familiar to me, when dragging over the project panel. What version of Windows and have you messed with the icons etc... in your customizations? Are you logged in as an Administrator?
