Unable to export via PPro or Media Encoder on MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1

Issue – Using PPro and Media Encoder, I am unable to export any video.

Steps to reproduce – No video will export from the application. (I also cannot find Software Encoding selector for ProRes 422) Use ProRes 422 HQ and either export or send to Media Encoder. Neither method works.

Expected result – Should export normally.

Actual result – Failed to export. Error 14.

Adobe Premiere Pro version – v26.0.1

Operating system – MacOS Tahoe v26.3

Video format – Video is 4k UHD 3840x2160, 23.976 FPS

    Thanks Rach,

As it turns out, I am not as methodical as I pride myself on being. This is my fault alone. I do use the 4TB external drive formatted as NTFS (using a conversion utility) for renders and have reliably done so for a long time. But, since this is a feature length film the file size is around 240GB each time I render. There is only a small amount of reserve space available, so I need to delete as I go. I did that...BUT the last time I did I forgot to empty the trash. I go between Mac and Windows a lot, hence I simply overlooked a step. Your response regarding the I/O error #14 pointed me to that and I am up and rendering again.

Ugh. Chalk it up to operator error and consider this problem closed.

    Thank you again!

    Hi @TomKan
Really appreciate the thorough write-up and error logs.  That gives us a lot to start with.

    A couple things stand out:

    1) Error 14 = I/O error

You’re exporting to /Volumes/Extreme SSD. Try exporting to your internal system drive (Desktop) instead. If that works, it could be a disk format, permissions issue, or a drive health issue. Run Disk Utility → First Aid on the external and confirm it’s APFS or Mac OS Extended (not ExFAT).

    2) Test with Software Only renderer

File → Project Settings → General → set Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only, then try exporting again. If that works, it points to a GPU/export pipeline issue.

Another quick isolation test to try:

    • Brand new project

    • One clean test clip

    • Export ProRes 422 (QuickTime, not MXF)

    • Export to internal drive

    Let us know:

    • Does it export to the internal drive?

    • Does Software Only change behavior?

Thanks again for the detailed info.  I hope we can find a resolution quickly.

I didn’t include the system. Using a Mac Studio M4 Max, 64GB, 1TB SSD plus 28TB of external drives.
