unable to keep selection while click and drag to select text in text editing window

Attempting to highlight and select text by clicking and dragging in the text edit window fails to stay selected when scrolling through multiple pages of text

1. run current version of premiere

2. import/ingest footage

3. transcribe footage

4. left click to select and highlight text

5. drag mouse down or up to begin scrolling while maintaining highlighted text

6. return mouse to neutral state and release left mouse button

Observe: Premiere loses highlight selection

expected result: Premiere maintains selection

I have to say, there have what appears to be a series of really questionable design choices around mouse selecting and the text editing window for no real apparent reason.

I think I speak for a lot of users when I say that the expected function of text editing should be similar to any other text editor in terms UX/UI. Removing the ability to maintain a selection while scrolling with the mousewheel and NOW ANY SCROLLING with any selection is just an absolutely horrible and unintuitive experience.

Attached is the video illustrating the issue

Correct answer Udrowz

it was user error, having the 'selection follows playhead' effects text editing selection

@Udrowz,

Right-click in the transcript for me opens the context menu; I'm using left-click. Otherwise, if I understand what you are doing, holding shift down before I resume scrolling works for me. But there may be some oddities - you're not really selecting text per se - you're selecting that section of the timeline.

I edited the post to reflect the typo, I meant "left click"
