Unassinged Mask Error

I am working on a project and in the effect controls tab, any part of the video says that the video has an unassigned mask. I tried deleteing attributes and other things but i wont even go away. I don't know if this is just a me bug or is anyone else having this issue but i would like to know how to fix it. Thank you

In v26, the masking tools have been redesigned & are now available in the toolbar. You may refer to this link to learn more about it. Here is an article on the unassigned mask in Pr. Hope it helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Adobe Support Team,

I am facing a serious issue in Adobe Premiere Pro related to masking, and I am unable to fix it even after trying all possible solutions.

The problem is that “Unassigned Masks” always appears in Effect Controls and does not get removed. The Clear All option does not work. At the same time, mask tools (ellipse, rectangle, pen) are not visible in any effects such as Gaussian Blur, Lumetri Color, or Opacity.

I have already tried the following steps:

Created new projects
Reset Premiere Pro preferences
Deleted all media cache files
Removed attributes from clips
Used Nest and Adjustment Layers
Reinstalled Premiere Pro completely
Updated and downgraded Premiere versions
Tested with different clips and sequences

The issue still exists in every project and every clip. It looks like the masking system itself is corrupted or broken at the application level.

I would like to understand:
Why is the Unassigned Masks option not getting removed or assigned to any effect?
Why are mask tools missing from all effects?
Is there a way to completely reset or repair the masking system in Premiere Pro?

This issue is affecting my professional editing workflow, so I would appreciate a permanent solution.

The mask tools are accessed from the toolbar for all effects. See the links provided by Ann and Sumeet. Yes, there is a learning curve.

In effect controls, there is now a group called "Unassigned Masks." You cannot delete this group heading.

If you apply a mask without selecting an effect, it will be listed under this "Unassigned Masks" group, such as "Object Mask(01)". You can delete each mask there must by clicking on it and hitting delete. Or delete all masks in the unassigned group by clicking "Clear all."

To apply an unassigned mask to an effect, just drag it. For example, click and drag "Object Mask(01)" to Opacity. You will still see the heading for "Unassigned Masks" (but the group is empty), and Object Mask(01) is now under Opacity.

If you know you want your mask to be an opacity mask, select the clip in the timeline, select the type of Mask tool you want from the toolbar, and click on Opacity in Effect Controls. Then make the mask in the Program Monitor. The mask will appear under Opacity.
