Unsplit-Screen Video

I have seen many ways of how to create a split-screen video. I am looking to do the opposite. I have a video that is already split screen (exactly down the middle, 1920px on each side), and I want to use each side separately so I can overlap them, transition between them, and all that good stuff. The video also has audio that I need to keep, but I do not need to split that or anything - the recording itself already has separate audio channels for each side.

As an aside, I started using Premiere Pro this morning, so I may not understand the UI or jargon without some detail.

You started this morning? might want hit F1 first and follow some tutorials.

Nobody is jumping to queue to explain how Premiere works. It has a steep learning curve.

Hello! I appreciate the response. I did go through a few getting started tutorials, but I learn better by creating my own project and learning the necessary bits in direct practice. I am not looking for a rundown of Premiere on a fundamental level; I just left that note to avoid a situation where someone mentions a button buried somewhere I have not seen and having to figure out how to get to it. Just the added context of where the hypothetical button is would be helpful.

Anyway, do you know if what I am asking has a solution? If so, I do not need an ELI5 level explanation, but some high-level directions to get me going the right way would be wonderful.
