"unsupported compression type" obs recording import

I know there are a bunch of these posts but i quickly looked through and I didn't see any dealing with obs recording imports. I keep getting the "unsupported compression type" error while trying to import a recording from obs studio. I have tried a few things from google:     

-Delete or rename the media cache folder
-Move the clip to another folder
-Change the clip’s file extension
-Re-encode the video clip

Anyone have any other suggestions? I have also tried obs support as well but I am at work and can't produce a stream log to debug with them atm. Anyone have any suggestions?
