Upgraded to Adobe Premiere CC 2018. Randomly freezes, can't even force quit. Anybody else having this problem?

I just upgraded to Adobe Premiere CC 2018.  The program will randomly freeze after working on the timeline.  I can select  save project and try to exit the program - the application looks like it exits but still shows up as unresponsive in the force quit dialogue box.   Select force quit and enter, but program still won't quit.  Try to shut down computer from menu- but error says Adobe Premiere won't quit and cancels shut down.  Only way to stop program is to force shut down time mac with power button. Tried clearing preferences after restart and opening program but issue still seems to occur. This series of events has happened three times already and I am clueless as to the issue.  This was not happening at all with The Adobe version before this. Has this happened to anybody else?  Any suggestions?
