Upgrading Premiere Production from 2020 to 2023 - issues

TL;DR: trying to upgrade a 2020 production to Premiere 2023 and it keeps crashing.
 
I just got hired on to do some troubleshooting for a longform documentary. They are trying to upgrade their project from Premiere 2020 to 2023. They are using Premiere Production. The problem is that once they upgraded, the production has all kinds of problems. Mainly that you can't play through a sequence without the program crashing.
 
The previous assistant editor spent a month troubleshooting and had a hard time. They did find some corrupted files and after replacing those, that helped a bit. But still the same issue. They called Adobe support a ton and that didn't really help.
 
The next thing I will be trying is creating a new production in Premiere 2023, and then bringing in each project one-by-one. But does anyone have any guesses as to what could be going on? I know that's not a ton of details, but yeah!

    Hi @tv26204078,

    Very sorry for your issues with Premiere Pro. You said you can't playback a sequence since you updated versions? You might try some troubleshooting steps from the Reset Options dialog box. Close all projects, then press Shift on launch. From the dialog box, try deleting media cache by choosing that option and then click "Continue." This can fix problems like you are describing. Let us know if it helps you get back on track.

     

    Problems like this has been known to happen when updating projects from one major version to another. It's happened to me too. Let us know if you need more help troubleshooting this issue.
