Question

Varicam LT footage dropping audio randomly in Premiere.

Recently in numerous projects, footage from our Varicam LT is dropping all the audio or audio from certain clips, but only in Premiere if I open them up in any other program the audio plays fine. I saw an old post stating this was a known problem and would be addressed but is there an ETA? If there's not a fix soon I'm going to have to drop premiere and pick up a different editing software, this problem is driving me crazy and forcing me to miss deadlines.

Hi Cole,

I'm the Cinema Product Manager at Panasonic North America.  We are aware of the issue and are working with Adobe to address it.  Adobe has stated that it expects the next update of Premiere to resolve the issue.

Hi Cole,

What OS and build of Premiere are you using?

We made a few changes in Premiere Pro 11.0.2 to address audio and export issues specific to the Varicam LT files. The reminder work needed should be fixed in our upcoming build. Sorry I cannot provide a specific date.

Please download and install the upcoming version and let us know if you continue to have any issues. Also, if you have a specific file that this issue always occurs with I'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks for the report and your patience.
