Question

Various Premiere Bugs: Auto-relinking to wrong files, trying to delete clips etc.

Got a weird bug going on. Noticed a clip on my timeline with diagnal stripes through it. Poked at it and it seemed like some kind of indiactor for a linking issue? Did Reveal In Finder only to see that somehow, Premiere had dropped the link to the correct source file, and relinked to a different file on the drive with the same file name. Def seems like a bug.

In trying to resolve it, I went into the project panel, found, file, and selected Make Offline. Got the Media Options popup. Selected Media Files Remain on Disk. Clicked OK.

Then I got another popup, warning me "Are you sure you want to delete the media files from the disk". Def a bug. I cancelled out of it.

I tried the whole process a few more times, with the same exact steps. On about the 3rd or 4th try, it acted normally, and I was able to relink the correct file.

Can someone please advise on this? I suspect I've got other auto-relinked files on the timeline im gonna have to find and deal with, so would appreciate it if an employee could chime in with some troubleshooting steps.

Thank you Ann. Can anyone else comment on what, at least to me, seems to be multiple bugs? The first that caused this, and the second that is misinterpeting my don't-delete click as an instruction to delete?

Hey Jeena, thanks for making a post about this! Let's see how we can help. Does this happen repeatedly? If you try to relink media again, does it misinterpret the don't-delete click?

If this was a one-time offense, I'm wondering if we could fix it by resetting preferences. Here's a YouTube video on how to reset preferences.

Hope this helps,

Caroline
