Vertical lines on sequence playback

Hi, could anyone please offer some advice? I'm compiling and editing a short video in Premiere.

The clip is clean when it goes onto the timeline but then glitches in various places (not always the same) on playback. The glitch takes the form of vertical green/pink blocks (see image). The frame rate is correct and I'm set to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only.

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Correct answer Ann Bens

Guessing this is a mp4. If so, change extension to .mpeg. See how that goes.

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter
•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
••for Premiere Pro use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
•••such as (MAY not be the latest) https://www.nvidia.in/Download/driverResults.aspx/175412/en-in
•ATI Driver https://www.amd.com/en/support
There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version

Thanks, John. I haven't had to go that far as Ann's suggestion (below) seems to have worked. However, I'll bear your solution in mind should anything similar occur! 🙂
