Question

Video capture file format / how to make compatible with Premiere Pro?

I'm using Premiere Pro version 12.1.2 on a Mac running OS 10.13.6 to capture video and from what I can tell, Premiere Pro creates a file format (.mov) that is incompatible with itself, with no way to change or modify it. It's fine with shorter files, but when capturing longer length video files (approx 120 minutes), it will import audio only, not video. The files open fine with QuickTime but not in Premiere Pro.

I understand Premere Pro will no longer support 32-bit QuickTime files, but from what I can tell there is no option to change or modify the file format upon video capture. It seems Premiere Pro is creating a file that it's not compatible with.

I've downgraded to PP 12.0.1 which seems to work for the time being, but I would love to know more about why this is happening. Why does PP create 32-bit QuickTime files if it doesn't support it? What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance.

    OK, you're capturing DV.

I have seen a couple other posts with similar issues on macs.  You might try a forum search, see what turns up.
