Video Lost

I was working an hour on a video. Then, it shuts down. Now it seems to be completly LOST. This has happened before...though not this bad. I am kinda on the verge of moving to FCP. ANY TIPS on why it does this? An hour of work LOST

It is wise to save ... while auto-save can at times be handy, it's really far better to do manual iterative saves every so often. Then work the newly save project. So ... if something weird does happen with the computer, your work is still there.

Learned this the hard way myself, of course.
