Video Matching Tool - From export and footage to timeline

Hello everybody,

I have this problem:

I have an old movie that I've done shot in DV.

Now I have only an edited export in low quality and all the footage that I'm ri-importing from the cassettes.

I have to change only something in the editing, so I would like to have the re-imported footage  in a timeline cut as in the old export.

Is there some tool, plugin, or software that can do it quickly in premiere pro?

There are no plugin that can make decisions or do your edit for you from an existing movie.

Seems that you have to use your lo res DV version as a Master Source Clip and then match scenes and  insert/overlay your new parts from the new material.

Not entirely.

But if guess your meaning right, then when you reopen the project and link the media, your original edits will all still be there.

But, you have to have the original media to do this.

Thank you for your answer,

I do not have the original project and the old footage, I only have a "final" export and new footage (they are the same images but in another, better, compression).

It sounds strange to me that there aren't software that can recognize that an image from an export it's the same image of one clip in media pool...

that would be magic.

Drop the export file in a new sequence (one that matches the (better) footage),

Cut the file in clips on the timeline,

Select clip in timeline,

Open corresponding (better) clip in Source Monitor,

Then use the feature: Replace with clip.... from Source Monitor, match frame.
