Video not fitting into preview window

When i moved a clip from source panel to preview window - to attach to an existing sequence it would not fit into the preview window. I tried moving it over as a new item which resolved it - however all the existing footage in the sequence disappeared! Please advise how i can move the clip it to existing sequence and make it fit into the preview window.

Many thanks

Your clip does not match the sequence setting.

The Preview window is called the Program Monitor.

Are you using different kind (format) of video's?

right click on clip in timeline and Set to Framesize.

The Source Monitor is the Preview.  The monitor on the right is Program.
