Question

Video quality is poor after exporting (I'm so done!)

After exporting my project or video, no matter how I fiddle with the settings, nothing seems to produce the same high quality as the original video on the computer. I've changed my settings hundreds of times and exported using VBR Pass and CBR and nothing seems to work. This is so frustrating, it just deflates me and deters me off editing any of my footage.

Any help would be GREATLY appriciated!

Is the source material shot on a smart phone or from a screen recording?  If so, the problem may be caused by a variable frame rate source which can cause intermittent and unpredictable issues.  Here's how to confirm the variable frame rate issue

use mediainfo to determine whether your source is variable or constant frame rate
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
if it's variable use handbrake to convert to constant frame rate setting the quality slider in the video panel to maximum
https://handbrake.fr
and here's a tutorial on how to use handbrake

If that's not the problem, post back and we can try some other things.

To spare time try to export the most affected part of the timeline with 2 settings:

- h264 with disabled Hardware encoding (has to be in the export settings)

- Prores422. If this is fine, you can recompress it in Handbrake tool via x264 later on (constant quality mode, CRF20 or less)

Is there a reason why your export pixel size is different to your sequence size?

This was just one of the options I tried. I tried to reduce the output pixels in hope that it would make a difference.
