Video shaky, blurry and noisy with NEAT video and Mercalli

Hi,

I've been trying to render videos of apartments, houses etc. using Adobe Premiere and to make it as stable (via Mercalli) and noiseless (using NEAT Video) as possible. The problems I encounter are following:

1) It seems like when entering different rooms (just as the "footage maker" goes through the door), video becomes pretty much "earthquakey shaky", even though raw footage isn't as nearly as shaky.

2) The borders of video are somewhat blurry/skratchy (at some moments this is more than noticeable), but when the light conditions are darker, the whole video is VERY BLURRY, again, unlike the raw footage.

I understand that the video blurriness is at some extent related to NEAT video trying to remove the noise. But, is there a way to minimize these two problems? Maybe using some different plugins or something like that. Or using different values with above mentioned plugins, maybe?

For example, there are two rendered videos with nearly the same light conditions. The first example video is rendered using Adobe Premiere, where you can see the described problems "in action" Second example video is rendered using different software (whose name I will not mention ), and you can see there are not as nearly as much shake and noise effects as in first video. Adobe Premiere rendering speed is a lot faster than other software I tried, and I would like to continue using Premiere for our videos, but these are some problems I would like to minimize as much as it is possible.

1st example video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPsSs8X3PrU - take a closely look at 26sec and 35sec mark.

2nd example video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Qnri3A1BE

Thanks in advance,

Marko

    1. that is normal. But why not use Premiere built in Warp or the one in AE (much more options).

    2. you are using a third party stabilizer so if it does not do the job right complain to Prodad.

    3. same goes for Neat video.

If you want good results start at the source.

    hardware stabilizer and enough light.

    Hi Marko,

I think you may be expecting too much from Stabilizer software. The real purpose of such software, in my understanding, is to stabilize footage that is shaky when you are trying to hold the camera still on a subject. Or maybe riding a bicycle and hitting some bumps, but in general the image is "straight ahead".

It cannot do its job when swinging camera around corners walking. Get a camera with better SteadyShot or the shooter needs to be smoother in his moves.

Think of it this way - you are trying to hold the camera on a still subject, but there is camera movement because you are handheld. What any stabilizer software will do is to basically select a part of the image, then it tries to keep that thing in the same spot in the frame, so it moves the entire frame left, right, up, down as needed to keep the subject stationary. It needs to also zoom in a bit or you would see black edges as frame is moved around. How can such a thing function when it cannot pick out anything to stabilize?

Walking around a corner, EVERYTHING in the frame is in motion, the software cannot tell the difference between desired motion (walking around a corner) and unwanted motion (camera man moving arms, shaking). When walking around, there is no point of reference for stabilizer to lock onto, everything in frame is moving and changing all of the time!

Also, cameras with CMOS image sensors are famous for skewing the image - jello wobble. This effect is sometimes made worse when attempting to stabilize the footage, the wobble is increased!

    Yup.
