Viewer Gamma setting does not affect external video stream

Hi, I've had this issue for a long time now and cannot figure out how to fix it. I am editing on a 2019 Macbook Pro connected to an external monitor via HDMI. I have "Display Color Management" turned on and have the "Viewer Gamma" set to "Quicktime" as I am working on videos for social media platforms. The video in the program monitor looks great and matches the exports when viewed in Quicktime but the external monitor video stream seems to be set to Viewer Gamma 2.4. The program monitor does not match the external monitor at all. The program monitor DOES match the external monitor when I have "Display Color Management" turned off. I would like to be able to use the external monitor feed while I color correct but unfortunetly I cannot. Please help!

Hey there,

Thanks for the question. Have you tried using VLC as the tool to use as a reference? QuickTime is notorious for causing a lot of confusion. It sounds like the P3 screen is still exhibiting the same behavior as in the past. Perhaps @R Neil Haugen can chime in on this one.

Thanks,
Kevin
