Hi All,

I have a laptop and a desktop and I want to start working on the laptop.

What is the best workflow to start editing a video on my laptop then continue editing it on my desktop?

what is the best way to save files, or where?

should I save the whole project folder on laptop then transfer it via external drive to my desktop?

I appreciate any workflow tips.

Thank you.

I do it all the time..  I have several Samsung T series USB 3 portable SSD's.  I have all the project files and media files on the Samsung and do the basic erditrng on my laptop and when almost finished I unplug the drive and walk it to the desktop for final steps and exporting to deliverable format. The change is very smooth and swift.  Forget hard disk drives they are in many cases way to slow.

First both computers must have USB 3 ports and the laptop must have adequate CPU power too do this type of perfromance.

What are the specs of your laptop and desktop, including hard drive setup?

That may affect how you need to do that.

I would keep all of the files in a single folder on the laptop.

Copy the folder to the external drive.

Copy the folder from the hard drive to the same location on the desktop as it was on the laptop.
