Warning sound with windows while shifting tracks with ALT+ , or .

Why do we hear a windows sound when using ALT+ < or > to shift clips in the timeline?

 

steps to repro

put a clip in a timeline

select the clip and use ALT+ , or . to shift the clip to left or right. (steps of 1 frame)

Or use SHIFT+ALT+, or . to shift 5 frames

 

result

You always hear a windowssound (system notification)

Because Windows is maddening at times! That Alt modifier key ... Windows thinks you want one of its commands done. And when working in Premiere, makes life ... Hades at times.

 

I can't use Alt-only key shorts, if there's any Windows or Program keyboard options set to that combination. So I use double-modifier key shorts, say Shift/Alt-X, and always hit the other mod key first.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
