Wav files not being displayed correctly in Premiere 2026

Since upgrading to Premiere 2026, my audio files are not being displayed correctly, but instead I see either “blocks of audio” or “blocks of nothing”.  The audio plays fine, but its hard to edit with accuracy when you can’t see the breaks in audio

Thank you for your help.  Unfortunately, I had found these proposed solutions elsewhere and had tried them all without success.

THE SOLUTION WAS THAT THE GRAPHICS CARD IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED BY ADOBE - However, the option to revert to Software rendering was greyed out.  I switched to a different graphics card, and all is working perfectly.

You must clear the media cache to rebulid the audio waveforms. Hold down the Shift key while launching Premiere to get the Reset options dialog. Check Clear media cahce and click Continue.

Open the project you are working with and give it time to rebuild the waveforms. :)

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.
