.WAV from sound recorder won't import to Premiere

macOS Monterey

version 12.3.1

Up todate on Premiere version 22.4.0 (Build 57)

Attempting to pull in audio recorded on SoundDevices feild recorder. 24b .Wav files. 

Have done this for well over 10 years never a problem. Now running into 

"Error: we were unable to open file on disk." 

Only filing PC uswers talking about soultions, any help for Mac users. 

Very frustated.
