Waveforms not showing on new clip brought into project

Question

The waveforms don’t show up.  I’ve reimported, deleted the previous peak files from the day I imported.  I clicked and generated the peak files, restarted Premiere, restarted my computer.  What is going on?  It’s crazy.  ½ the clips from the day drew the waveforms, but not the other half.  I can hear the audio but can’t see any waveforms.

If you add the clip to the Timeline, select just the audio (Alt-click on Windows or Option-click on macOS), then choose Clip > Render and Replace:If waveforms appear, this points to a header issue with the original file.If they don't appear, open the clip in the MediaInfo app and share its metadata under View > Tree: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
