Waveforms of random clips disappear, timeline becomes sluggish or unusable
I usually put all of my footage on a timeline to select the clips I'm using for a project, and since a couple updates ago some of the waveforms of these clips (usually not more than 2 with over a hundred clips on my timeline) simply disappear, and I can't drag my playhead or select any clips. The problem persists until I zoom somewhere the waveform is outside of my reach, or if I manage to cut and paste the clip (deleting it and undoing won't work).
Things I've tried so far:
- Uninstalled an .ogg plugin I use and reseted preferences
- Cleared my media cache on C:\ and D:\ drives
- Reinstalled Premiere multiple times
- Reinstalled NVidia studio drivers (I'm using a GTX 1070)
This issue also started appearing on a PC I use on some weekends for freelance work, where I had to update Premiere to the 2020 version to keep editing a project, but then I also had to install that .ogg plugin and update the GPU drivers (for a RTX 2060).
My most successful attempt to pinpoint the issue was today when I uninstalled the GPU drivers and was pretty sure the problem was gone, until my PC automatically reinstalled some basic video drivers and it came back (even with GPU acceleration greyed out). Though I'll try that again offline to see if that's really the issue.
The strange thing is that the problem carried over to the other PC, even on a fresh project. If this was just about the drivers, the problem would be much more widespread. If it's about the .ogg plugin, shouldn't deleting it and reseting my preferences/clearing the cache solve the issue?
