Question

Weird distortion and lines upon export

I got a bunch of video footage using my iPhone and I decided to make a video with it. I noticed any video files from mobile devices were showing up distorted during the editing process. I would normally run these files through Handbrake and it would resolve. However, I tried running through Handbrake many times with no fix. Finally, I just restarted the Premiere app hoping it was just a bug and when it reloaded the videos all looked fine while editing. Once I exported the file it was back to the same look when I had first imported the files. Vertical lines, mild distortion to the video, and the footage look like it's lost some colour. No matter what setting I try it keeps showing up like this. I've never had this issue in the past. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

One more thought: Have you tried exporting through Media Encoder?

Hi,

Are you getting these lines and weird colour in the Export dialog box? Also, are you getting them when playing exported video in all video players?

So, they don't show up at all in the preview screens for the editing dashboard or the export dashboard in Premiere. I tried running it through Media Encoder today and the lines are gone, but the videos are completely blown out as if someone has increased the brightness or highlights of the video (whites are super white). It did help with the distortion, but it's still having issues processing the video correctly. The preview in Encoder showed the blown out video frames, but the Premiere ones looked perfectly fine. My problem is half-resolved by using Encoder. Still a mystery as to what is causing this to occur.

Hi @mahyar604

I saw your post. Sorry for the frustration. Are you using 23.4? iPhone HDR footage has a bug fix that should help a lot. Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi mahyar604!

Sorry about the trouble. Can you share your system details (OS, CPU, RAM, GPU)? What happens when you export it through "Software Only"? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-how-to-change-the-video-renderer-in-premiere-pro-and-adobe-media-encoder/td-p/9851383

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kartika
