Question

Weird Glitch when watching back videos

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help me out here. I bought a new pc 2 years ago and i had nothing but trouble with it. In the end i sent it back and was told that it was the Intel intel 13900k that was to blame. So they replaced it with the intel 14900k. Since i got it back it seems to be working OK, but the other day I started to get this weird glitch (See Attached Image) appear when playing back footage. The glitch flashes fast as the footage is playing.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm just concerned that it's something to do with the PC.

For info my PC specs are

Nvida 4090

64gb DDR5 ram

Windows 11

Footage is stored on an internal Samsung 990 pro

Media Cache and Scratch disc are on another internal Samsung 990 pro

Footage was 4K .mov 4:2:2, 10 bit, Long GOP from the GH6

This is most likely a GPU issue. Can you disable CUDA in the Project Settings menu and just work with "Software Only"? If the glitches don't reappear then we need to look at the driver or possibly the card itself.

So .... I also get this weird glitch (I call it a noise bar) across my Program monitor from time to time.

I have gone through several NVidia Studio Drivers and done a clean install - and re-installed Premiere.

It is only random that I get it.

I played around and found that if I go onto Multicam view (wrench bar on program monitor) and then switch back to composite view it goes away.

I am on 566.14 driver at present for my 4080 Super , not had it happen recently but I bet it has not gone away.

On one occasion I got the noise bar on my second Video monitor output from NVidia Display Output  (Via Mercury Transmit selection) as well.

I have looked on the release notes of the Studio Drivers but not seen anything that describes a fix that remotely resembles it.

If I see it again I'll capture it and post an image too

Hello @SHOOT FIRST CREATIVE,

Thanks for the message. We appreciate the information you gave. As an editor, my first impression is that your media is just too demanding. Many editors have trouble with Long GOP 4:2:2 10-bit footage and demanding workflows. It is difficult for most computers (even pretty hardcore systems such as yours) to play that format back in real-time, especially, multiple streams of this format.

To take a load off your system, you can increase overall performance by using proxies. You can also transcode the footage to an intraframe codec. I would test your workflow using these guidelines and see if you still have the glitch. Let me know if you have success with either of these workflows. I hope the advice helps.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi thanks for replying. The footage i was using today was the mov 4:2:2, 10 bit, Long GOP, but this happens with prores footage as well. And on both accounts i was using proxies.

Do a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver) directly from NVIDIA.
