Hey everyone,

I've been having this really weird issue for a while now. When I drag a new file (video or audio) into my project, premiere starts to freak out. It start to run incredibly slow and buggy, to the point where I literally can't do anything anymore. Sometimes it even straight up crashes.

Here is the weird part. Whenever I create a new bin in that project, and I drag the file I just added (that caused the issue) into that bin... POOF, the issue is gone and the program runs completely smooth again. It's like this with every new file I add. So my projects now consists out of 200 subfolders.

I've tried reinstalling premiere and clearing the cache several times. Nothing helped so far.
Also, it does this with any project, so it has nothing to do with how much files are actually in that project.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11017257/thread-id/260446?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Confirming: If you drag [some valid media file] into the root of the project, PPro has a bad time. If you drag [that same valid media file] into a bin within the project, smooth sailing.  Do I have that right?

No, it's the same problem if I drag a file into a bin within the project. I have to create a new bin/sub-bin with practically every file I add.
