what are these motion lines and how to control?

When I'm using motion/axis keyframes, I see these lines which

seem to represent some part of the motion, maybe the temporal interpolation.

I also notice they are movable, but I cant see how to move them to create

curvy or bendy motion routes, which I would really like.

Any tips?
