What is the best way for smooth playback in bins with ARRI ALEXA 4k footage?

Having a lot of trouble playing back smooth in bins. Tried creating proxies but they are still choppy.

Working on a Mac Desktop 27inch 2009 2.8 GHS intel core and 8 GB memory, while importing on G drive 3 tb.
